India was off to the worst possible start as both the openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill bagged ducks. However, after that, Tilak Varma (29:20b, 4x4, 1x6) and Suryakumar Yadav (56:36b, 5x4, 3x6) rejuvenated the innings. They added 49 runs for the third wicket and bailed their team out of trouble. After Tilak got out, Rinku Singh (68 not out:39b, 9x4, 2x6) took the onus to himself and smashed his maiden half-century. His innings powered India to 180 for seven before rain played spoilsport. The target was then revised to 152 in 15 overs.
South Africa were off to a flying start as Reeza Hendricks (49:27b, 8x4, 1x6) and Matthew Breetzke (16:7b, 1x4, 1x6) added 42 runs in just three overs. After that skipper Aiden Markram (30:17b, 4x4, 1x6) played a blinder and added 54 runs for the second wicket. But after that, India made a comeback and reduced Proteas to 108 for four. However, after that, David Miller (17:12b, 1x4, 1x6), Tristan Stubbs (14 not out:12b, 4x4) and Andile Phehlukwayo (10 not out:4b, 1x6) played vital hands and helped their team chase the target and win the game by seven wickets.
