Match Analysis
Asked to bat, Bengaluru posted a total of 213 for five, in response, Chennai managed 211 for five.
Bengaluru had a brutal start to their innings as both the openers in Virat Kohli (62:33b, 5x4, 5x6) and Jacob Bethell (55:33b, 8x4, 2x6) came out all guns blazing. They set the stage on fire in the powerplay as they added 97 runs for the opening partnership inside ten overs.
However, after that, Chennai pulled back things brilliantly as they reduced the home side to 157 for five. But, Romario Shepherd (53 not out:14b, 4x4, 6x6) came out with different plans. He slammed the fastest fifty for Bengaluru in the league, and his brutal innings in the end took the hosts to a massive total of 213 for five.
Chasing the target, Chennai openers Ayush Mhatre (94:48b, 9x4, 5x6) and Shaik Rasheed added 51 runs for the opening partnership to provide a great platform for their team. Sam Curran, at three, also failed as Chennai was left at 58 for two. However, after that, Mhatre and Ravindra Jadeja (77 not out:45b, 8x4, 2x6) joined hands and brought their team back into the game.
Both the batters slammed half-centuries as the duo added 114 runs for the third wicket to put Bengaluru under pressure. The hosts then picked two back-to-back wickets to tighten the game. Jadeja and MS Dhoni (12:8b, 1x6) tried their best to take their team home but failed. Yash Dayal saved 15 runs off the last over to win the game for his team.
