Mumbai Indians booked their berth in the playoffs of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 as they beat Delhi Capitals by 59 runs at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Wednesday.

Asked to bat, Mumbai posted a total of 180 for five, in response, Delhi got all out for 121.

Mumbai didn't have a good start to their innings as senior batter Rohit Sharma got out for just five runs. Ryan Rickelton (25:18b, 2x6) and Will Jacks  (21:13b, 3x4, 1x6) batted well but failed to carry on the starts that they had.

With the team under pressure, Suryakumar Yadav (73 not out: 43b, 7x4, 4x6) and Tilak Varma (27:27b, 1x4, 1x6) stitched a hard-fought 55-run stand for the fourth wicket, but Delhi made a strong comeback after that, leaving Mumbai at 123 for five.

However, Yadav along with Naman Dhir (24 not out:8b, 2x4, 2x6) in the end, added 57 runs for the sixth wicket, ensuring that Mumbai finished on a high as they posted a total of 180 for five.

Delhi's chase didn't go the way they would've wanted as they lost wickets right from the start and were left reeling at 65 for five with all the big guns back.

Sameer Rizvi (39:35b, 6x4, 1x6), Vipraj Nigam (20:11b, 3x4, 1x6) and Ashutosh Sharma (18:16b, 1x4, 1x6) had starts but failed to carry on as Mumbai kept picking wickets at regular intervals.

Mitchell Santner and Jasprit Bumrah picked three wickets each as they bundled out Delhi for just 121 to win the game by 59 runs.
